Install

Site Translator is two plugins. WorkMore Site Translator is the free plugin: a second language for posts, pages, categories and tags, with menus, a switcher and hreflang — complete on its own. WorkMore Site Translator Pro is an add-on that needs it and adds unlimited languages, custom post types and WooCommerce. This page takes you through both.

What you need

• WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.
• The free plugin. While its WordPress.org listing is in review, download it here: workmore-site-translator-1.0.0.zip. Once it is listed, install it from Plugins → Add New instead — a site that installed this zip then updates from WordPress.org on its own, because it is the same plugin with the same slug.
• For Pro: the add-on's zip from your purchase email. Freemius, who sells and delivers the add-on, also keeps it in your account with them.

1. Install the free plugin

1. Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, Install Now, Activate.
2. Open Settings → Site Translator, choose your default language — the one most of your content is written in — and the second language. Save.
3. In Pages (or Posts), click + in the Languages column of a page. A draft copy opens in your editor; translate it and publish.

Everything that existed before is in your default language and keeps its URL. Nothing is copied until you create a translation.

2. Add Pro

1. Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose workmore-site-translator-pro-x.y.z.zip, Install Now, Activate. The free plugin must stay installed and active: Pro is an add-on to it. WordPress 6.5 and newer enforce this; on older versions the add-on shows a notice with the one click that fixes it.
2. Activate your license when the add-on asks: paste the license key from your purchase email. A free trial works the same way, with the key from the trial email — no card needed.
3. Settings → Site Translator now has three more cards: More content types (WooCommerce products, custom post types and taxonomies), Additional languages and Pro account.

Updates

• The free plugin updates like any other plugin.
• The add-on updates from Plugins → Updates while your subscription is active.
• If the subscription lapses, nothing breaks: every language and content type you enabled keeps working. Updates and adding more pause until you renew — Pro account has the button.

Sites

• A license covers the number of sites of its plan.
• Local and staging copies of a site do not count.
• To move a license, deactivate it on the old site (Pro account → Manage account) and activate it on the new one.

Removing Pro

Deactivate and delete the add-on whenever you like: the free plugin keeps working with its two languages. Additional languages and content types stop being served, but their posts stay where they are, and reinstalling Pro brings them back.
